Bamboo Forest, 16 x 12, Original Watercolor
Overlapping bamboo gives the feeling of depth in this graphic painting. A negative painting technique was employed to achieve this effect. The lightest areas were painted around. Once dry, another layer is added, carefully painting around additional reeds and leaves. The process was repeated several times.
The breeze through the reeds makes a relaxing rustling noise. In the evening, many birds come to roost and hide. They squawk and jockey for position. I am "lucky" to have bamboo in my backyard. I did not plant it, but I fight its invasive nature every spring and summer. I suggest you enjoy the painting and leave the real thing to the pandas.
This is an original watercolor painting. Professional watercolor pigments were used on Arches 140 lb paper.
