Snakeroot and Grasses - Neglected Series, 10 x 8, ready to hang on eco-friendly mount
I love the colors I achieved in this many many many layers painting. It screams autumn to me, that corner of the garden where things went a little wild... Grasses, snakeroot, sedum and maybe even some weeds are standing tall and proud.
Neglected Series – This series celebrates nature uninterrupted. Overgrown, decaying and abandoned, mother nature will take back its own. Neglected has a negative connotation, but it is often from these ashes that beauty can emerge. I like to highlight unexpected loveliness.
This painting was achieved by painting the negative spaces, that is the space around the flowers and plants. I repeated layers of paint and masking in order to create the layers and depth.
This painting is mounted on a double layer of corrugated plastic (mostly likely a reclaimed election yard sign). The edges are covered with white tape for a clean look. The plastic is cut slightly smaller than the painting, so that it is not visible when viewing the front. Each painting is wired and ready to hang. Please see the sample photo, this is what the back of your painting may look like.
The result is a clean contemporary look that is extremely light weight. It can hang many places a traditional piece can not, or it is sturdy enough to sit on a shelf. The surface is treated to protect the painting. You can hang it as it is, or you may wish to have it framed. If you decide to have it framed you do not need glass to protect the painting.
This is an original watercolor painting. Professional Watercolor pigments were used on Arches 140 lb paper. The paper is torn by hand to create a deckle edge on all 4 sides. Every effort is made to create straight edges. Please forgive tiny imperfections, they add to the authenticity of one-of-a-kind art. You can choose to frame it with the edge visible or mat it for a clean edge.
No reproductions are permitted.
I am happy to produce commissions that will allow you to choose colors, size, etc.
