Belted Kingfisher, 11.5 x 11.5, original watercolor
A splendid Belted Kingfisher sits on a branch waiting for its next meal. The wet into wet background hints at the edge of a stream habitat where these north eastern (in the United States) birds finds their food.
Green Apatite Genuine, from the Primatek collection by Daniel Smith, is one of my favorite greens. This specialty pigment is actually made from grinding the semi precious stones. The result is a super granulating pigment that falls apart in unexpected ways in a wet wash. It also mixes very nicely with a wide range of other pigments. Using this paint adds a magic that can't be duplicated – not even if you try.
This is an original watercolor painting created using professional materials. It will never be reproduced as a print; you are buying a one-of-a-kind painting.
