Bamboo Sunset, 16 x 12, Original Watercolor
A brilliant sunset is the back drop for a stand of bamboo. The breeze through the reeds makes a relaxing rustling noise. In the evening, many birds come to roost and hide. They squawk and jockey for position.
I am "lucky" to have bamboo in my backyard. I did not plant it, but I fight its invasive nature every spring and summer. I suggest you enjoy the painting and leave the real thing to the pandas.
The mottled background is achieved by sprinkling water onto the surface while it is still damp. The water pushes the pigment out of the way. The bamboo was painted after it is dry.
This is an original watercolor painting. Professional watercolor pigments were used on Arches 140 lb paper.
